Acrylic polymer cement modifier & bonding agent
Vetobond AB432 is an acrylic polymer based bonding agent and cement modifier that is designed to be used as a bonding aid, curing agent and gauging liquid for cementitious systems. It is resistant to hydrolysis and can therefore be used for external application. Vetobond AB432 is a milky liquid that first turns purple when first applied on concrete then becomes clear once it dries, its applied directly from the bottle or pail to the concrete substrate by brush, roller or spray.
Vetobond AB432 supplied in 5 & 20 Liter Containers,
Coverage - 7 m2 /L as a primer
6 m2 /L as a curing aid
Original sealed container of Vetobond AB432 has a shelf life of 12 months provided it is stored clear of ground in a dry shaded place below 35ºC.
Application of Bonding Aid
The substrate should be thoroughly soaked with clean water with any excess removed prior to commencement of the works. Scrub Vetobond AB432 into the substrate, avoid puddling and remove any excess. The repair mortar or topping should be applied whilst the primer is still tacky.
OPC - 50 kg
Sharp Sand#60 - 150 kg
Vetobond AB432 - 10 Liters
Water - Enough to give workable consistency
Cure the repair mortar or topping using Vetobond AB432 to prevent rapid loss of water. In severe drying conditions additional curing methods may be necessary. Protect uncured mortar from frost and rain.
Vetobond AB432 should be removed from tools, equipment and mixers with clean water immediately after use. Cured material can only be removed mechanically.
Clean all surfaces and remove any dust, unsound material, plaster, oil, paint, grease, corrosion deposits or algae. Roughen the surfaces, remove any laitence and expose aggregate by light scabbling or grit-blasting.
Expose fully any corroded steel in the repair area and remove all loose scale and corrosion deposits. Steel should be cleaned to bright condition paying particular attention to the back of the exposed steel bars. Grit-blasting is recommended for this process.
Vetobond AB432 mortars, toppings and renders should not be used when the temperature is below 5°C and falling. Neither should they be exposed to moving water during application. Exposure to heavy rainfall prior to the final set may result in surface scour.
Cementitious mortars and slurries modified with Vetobond AB432 contain cement powders which, when mixed or become damp, release alkalies which can be harmful to skin. During use, avoid inhalation of dust and contact with skin and eyes. Wear suitable protective clothing, gloves, eye protection and respiratory protective equipment. The use of barrier creams provide additional skin protection. In case of contact with skin, rinse with plenty of clean water, then cleanse with soap and water. In case of contact with eye, rinse immediately with plenty of clean water and seek medical advice. If swallowed, seek medical attention immediately – do not induce vomiting.
