Versatile water based penetrating epoxy primer
Vetoprime EP190 is a universal primer for the water-based Vetorep and Vetotop product range, its applied on prepared concrete and cementitious substrates to seal the substrate and enhance bonding with top coats. The product can be used as a stand alone product in internal applications as a seal coat to harden cementitious surfaces and prevent dusting. Vetoprime EP190 is a three component water based epoxy resin that has penetrating properties making it ideal for concrete substrates.
Vetoprime EP190 is supplied in 4 & 15 Liter kits, Coverage: 7 - 10 m2 /Liter
Original sealed container of Vetoprime EP190 has a shelf life of 12 months provided it is stored clear of ground in a dry shaded place below 35ºC.
Priming
Mix Vetoprime EP190 as supplied. Add the entire content of hardener can to the base can and mix thoroughly for about 2 minutes, then add the third catalyst reducer part slowly and mix for 4 minutes. Once mixed, the Vetoprime EP190 shall be immediately applied in a thin continuous film using stiff brushes or rollers. Avoid over-application and puddles.
Vetoprime EP190 shall be allowed to become tack-free prior to the application of epoxy coating (unless otherwise specified) but well within the open time specified for the given temperature.
The hotter the substrate, the more quickly the primer will become dry.
Curing
At temperatures below 20ºC, the cure rate will be slower. Conversely, at temperatures above 20ºC, the cure rate will be faster.
As with all water-based products; do not apply when RH is >90% and/or when substrate temperature is >35C
Cleaning
All tools and equipment shall be cleaned immediately after use with water.
It is essential that Vetoprime EP190 is applied to a sound, clean and dry surface in order to achieve maximum bond strength between substrate and coating/repair products.
Concrete Substrates
Should be at least 28 days old and relative humidity of the concrete is 85% or below. Laitence deposits on new concrete are best removed by light grit blasting, mechanical scabbling or grinding.
Where heavy contamination by oil and grease has occurred or existing coatings are present, it is essential that all contaminations are removed.
Some people are sensitive to epoxy resins; so gloves and a barrier cream shall be used when handling these products. If contact with the resin occurs, it must be removed, before if hardens, with resin removing cream follow by washing with soap and water. Do not use solvent.
During use, avoid contact with skin and eyes. Wear suitable protective clothing, gloves, eye protection and respiratory protective equipment. In case of contact with eye, rinse immediately with plenty of clean water and seek medical advice. If swallowed, seek medical attention immediately – do not induce vomiting.
Vetoprime EP190 is nonflammable.
