Application Information
Instructions for use

Priming

Vetotherm Flex can be applied directly on concrete, cement plaster and masonry. In case of very porous substrates, water should be sprayed onto surface prior to the application.

Mixing

To ensure proper mixing, a mechanically poweredmixer or heavy duty drillfi tted with suitable paddle should be used.

Add 6.75 - 7.5 Liter (for each 25 kg bags) of clean water to a clean container. The powder is then added slowly to the water while mixing continuously with low speed mixer/ heavy duty drill (400 - 600 rpm) fitted with a suitable mixing paddle. Mixing time should be continued for 3 minutes until a uniform consistency is obtained.

Application

As an Adhesive:

Apply the mortar in a strip around the insulation board with a few spots in the middle. In case of a smooth or plastered substrate, back buttering technique can be employed and a notched trowel can be used to spread
the mortar on the back of the insulation board.

As a Base Coat and Protective Layer:

Apply the mortar over the fixed thermal insulation panels. Using an aluminum roll, embed the precut reinforcing mesh onto the fresh applied mortar until its fully immersed in the Vetotherm Flex layer. Smoothen the surface with a long flat trowel. More than one Vetotherm Flex layer can be applied and where needed double or triple reinforcement mesh can be used.

Note: Mesh strips have to be over lapped by approximately 10 cm.

Cleaning

All tools should be cleaned immediately after finishing by water. Hardened materials can be cleaned mechanically.

Surface Preparation

All surfaces must be clean and free from oil, grease or loose materials. The insulation board has to be firmly fixed using Vetotherm adhesives and anchors.

Large gaps between insulation boards must be filled with strips of insulation board to leave minimal gaps or filled with PU foam of similar U-Value to the insulation boards.

All edges of the building need to be protected by PVC Vetotherm accessories unless otherwise specified.
